Now that the summer season is officially over, everyone has cleared out and town feels deserted. These abrupt transitions are always a little jarring, and I often feel like I’ve just gotten used to the crowds of people right as they leave.
Where are all the people? The bikes? The dogs? The kids having temper tantrums? The parents lugging suitcases through tiny Woods Hole?
Still, it’s nice to walk down the middle of the road, or be first in line for a coffee (which will return to its off season hours — closed by 3pm). And now for the best month of the year: September.
