Oh, The Truth

“The price an artist pays for doing what he wants is that he has to do it.” — William S. Burroughs

So true, so painfully true in its unadorned simplicity, it actually made me chuckle. No one has ever held a gun to my head and forced me to write. I hold the gun every day, which is a privilege — I know. There are just days when it feels unbearably heavy.

  1. I can relate. I finished reading a book recently (I wrote about it in my blog) and these words stayed with me: “Hope is not needed to undertake a task, nor success to see it through.” They feel like words of encouragement when one considers “the truth”! Love your blog! Keep at it. 🙂
