Life Lately + Hi!

Hey guys! I’m coming out of a month of feeling very uninspired. Blogger’s block. Every time I sat down to write a new post, I just ended up staring at my computer screen. And then I’d feel guilty for leaving you all hanging. Then cower away in self-doubt and disappointment. So, instead of trying to come up with the Best Thing Ever (PRESSURE!), I’m just going to ease back into it, with a little catch up.

I’m reading All Grown Up right now and it’s hilarious and moving and kind of dark and the character is mostly unlikable but also somehow very relatable, so anyone on the lookout for a book that’s entertaining but not mindless, that’s my current recommendation!

I’m really curious to try this drink, which blends mint, frozen peaches, honey, and raspberries:

Also, how would you define vulnerability? My mom sent me this Ted Talk (raise your hand if your mom also finds the best of the internet) and it’s worth watching.

This is really random, but a few years ago I bought a cute laundry bag, and it has unexpectedly been one of the best home purchases I’ve ever made. SO I strongly encourage anyone who is living with one of those plastic and cumbersome laundry baskets to bid adieu and buy something like this instead. And bam! LAUNDRY DAY JUST BECAME A LITTLE MORE SEXY!

Lastly, Man Repeller shared advise from 3 women over the age of 70, and it’s a huge dose of chill the fuck out. Says Emily Lemer….

“Stop worrying so much. As long as you have enough money to pay your rent and buy food, don’t worry about anything. I have some young friends that work 14-hour days. Working too much is really the wrong way to do it. What is success? Financial success? Does that mean that you have to have a million dollars in your bank by the time you’re 30? I don’t think that’s necessary. Don’t do it. There’s a balance of being comfortable, of having enough money to live on and then just having a good time. You’ve got to balance. You’ve got to find time to play. You gotta have a little life, a little fun. Find your soul.”

How have you been? How’s your summer going? What’s new!? I’ve missed you!

  1. Missed ya Joy! Glad you popped back for a bit! I also read ALL GROWN UP and really enjoyed it. Recently finished ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS COMPLETELY FINE and it was one of the best books I’ve read this year–highly recommend!

PS: I tried that laundry trick a few months ago and it makes me inexplicably happy 🙂
