How Do You Get Out of Your Comfort Zone?

The year after I graduated college, I made the New Year’s resolution to regularly get out of my comfort zone. Lucky for me, the year ended up being a whirwind; with massive dating mishaps, a new job, a move… I ended up doing exactly what I set out to do — time and time again.

Fast forward three years later, and I’m feeling a little sedentary. Even with a job that has challenges, and despite the natural ups and downs of life, I’m comfortable in my routine, and the days just kind of tick by.

In my years on this earth, I’ve come to see how important it is to do something a little scary everyday, so I think it’s time I step up my game. This weekend I’m actually taking a quick trip to NYC, and I’m leaving Juniper behind. That may not sound like a big deal, except that it feels like a HUGE deal — for those of you who don’t know, I adopted Juni a few years ago and she’s basically my left leg. Leaving her here, even though she’ll be with Kevin (and even though she’ll be totally fine), feels really outside of my comfort zone. Honestly, it puts a pit in my stomach. Silly, but true. 🙂

What little things, big or small, do you do to challenge yourself? Please share, if you feel like it!

  1. Juniper is so so cute!! I think I have more separation anxiety than my dog, I totally feel your pain but don’t forget to enjoy your trip 🙂

  2. 10 months ago I quit my job, sold everything and have been travelling ever since! Been to South, Central and North America so far. Still have at least 6 months to go and I recently cried at the thought of having to go home one day! Juniper is very cute.
