This Sunday, I’m trying something new… (it’s crazy that this feels like such a big deal):
I’m turning my phone off and putting it away for the day.
Something tricky has started to happen now that I’m officially a full time blogger and freelancer: I’m always potentially working. Even when I’m not sitting in front of my laptop actively doing work, I’m keeping my eye out for things to write about, things to photograph, things to share. I’m constantly wondering: would my readers find that interesting?
It works out, because I love what I do. And I can’t afford to only do it when I want.
But there are days when I need a break. Days when I would like to shut that part off in my brain. I’ve already talked about keeping distance from my phone while I’m working, but now I’d like to try something new: for the next couple of Sundays, I’m waking up and turning my phone off. I’m actually really looking forward to it. Whenever I’m away from my phone for hours at a time I feel refreshed and centered. It will also be such a change to make plans ahead of time and then stick with them.
Would you do it?
