A New Dinner Ritual

So…..I’m not religious, but recently, I’ve started a little dinner ritual. Every night, before eating, I say a prayer. Basically, I take a moment to reflect; I’ll usually mention one thing that I’m grateful for or want to remember from that day (good fish tacos, a conversation with my mom, a beautiful full moon), and then I’ll take a longer moment to think of someone in my life (or in the world, for that matter) that I want to send good vibes to.

I have no clue where I got the idea to do this, but I love it. There are those tiny moments in life — when you make a wish on a dandelion, or a lady bug lands on your shirt — when everything becomes instantly grounded in perspective, and the world goes quiet, just for that second. To make an effort to conjure that feeling, every night before dinner, has really done wonders. It’s like an instant mood lifter.

Would you try it?

  1. This is such a lovely sentiment that I hate to sully with such a frivolous question….but I will anyway, because I have no shame. Where did you get those sweet sunglasses?

    • Ha! That made me laugh. Unfortunately the sunglasses aren’t mine so I have no clue, but now that you ask, I did see some that looked just like that at TJ Maxx the other day! Not sure if that’s helpful other than to say that it seems like that style is popular these days, so maybe you’ll find ones that are similar 🙂 XO

  2. I too pray before meals, bedtime and all through the day. I have been blessed beyond measure. I highly recommend it.
