The other day, I had a ripe avocado and a craving for guacamole — but no chips. I scrounged around my kitchen for a couple minutes and then remembered that I had some flour tortillas tucked away in my fridge, and so was born: homemade tortilla chips, made in my toaster oven.
There really is nothing to this recipe, and it’s completely adaptable. You could omit the spices and just do olive oil and sea salt — or go fancy with parmesan and fresh herbs. You could also make a whole batch and use an oven instead of a toaster if you’re serving these as appetizers — I just love how simple and quick it is for lazy snacks.
5 Minute Homemade Tortilla Chips
2 tortillas (I use flour, but I imagine you could try corn, too)
Olive oil for coating
spices of your choice (I mixed together cumin, paprika, and chili powder)
Stack your tortillas together, then cut them into wedges and place them single layer on your toaster oven baking sheet. Brush each one with olive oil, then sprinkle on your salt and spices. Toast until the chips start to bubble up and turn golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes, then serve with your favorite dip.
How simple is that? Have a great Monday, everyone!
